SoCal CAN is fervently committed to supporting our community through this challenging time. In the weeks to come, we will be sharing relevant information and resources as made available. If you’d like to share any student supports, practitioner guides, remote/distance learning resources, or similar information with the network, you can do so here. Weekly our team will update this page with new resources or updated links.  
INFORMATION ON COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY CLOSURES
The following lists have been compiled for practitioners and will be updated as more information becomes available:

LAUSD FAMILY RESOURCE CENTERS
LAUSD will continue to operate 40 Family Resource Centers to support families and students while school sites remain closed. The Family Resource Centers will open on Wednesday, March 18 and will be staffed weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. with trained professionals. Children will be able to have a warm meal, engage with their peers and pursue their different studies. The District is also seeking volunteers to staff the centers and is offering a $100 daily stipend to volunteers. For more information, visit the LAUSD website.
 
UPDATES ON CALIFORNIA PUBLIC SCHOOL CLOSURES

LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

The Los Angeles Department of Public Health has developed an excellent website with information and resources in multiple languages as well as an email list for nonprofit organizations to get the latest information. You can join that email list by clicking here.  

 

GUIDE FROM THE HOPE CENTER FOR COLLEGE, COMMUNITY, AND JUSTICE
Colleges and universities across the United States and around the world are scrambling to keep their students, faculty, and staff healthy, safe, and educated during the COVID-19 pandemic. THE STUDENT RELIEF FUND
The Student Relief Fund is a collaboration by Believe in Students, Edquity, and the Rise Education Fund to support students affected by COVID-19-related campus shutdowns. To learn more and make a donation, visit: www.studentrelieffund.org.
 
FREE MEALS AVAILABLE FOR ALL LAUSD STUDENTS
Starting March 16, free meals will be available for all LAUSD students at the Dream Center located at 2301 Bellevue Avenue, Los Angles, CA 90026. Breakfast is served from 7:30 – 9:30 AM; lunch is from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM; and dinner is from 4:30 – 6:30 PM. 
 
FREE INTERNET FOR STUDENTS
Charter Communications is offering free Spectrum internet services to students amidst the current Coronavirus epidemic. Beginning March 16, Spectrum broadband and Wi-Fi access will be available to households with K-12 and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription. This promotion is scheduled to last for 60 days after March 16. To enroll call 1.844.488.8395. 
 
LOW COST COMPUTERS AND INTERNET ACCESS FROM EVERYONE ON
In response to the coronavirus pandemic and its impact on society, multiple Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have made updates to their low-cost internet service programs to ensure individuals and families stay connected to the internet during this challenging time. STUDENT COMMUNICATIONS RESOURCE FROM SIGNAL VINE 
Signal Vine has put together a guide of preventative measures to take as well as response management tips when communicating with your students during the Coronavirus. Access the full guide with 10 message examples here.
 
U-HAUL OFFERS FREE STORAGE TO COLLEGE STUDENTS
U-Haul announced that it will extend 30 days of free, self-storage at U-Haul-owned and operated facilities to help college students impacted by unforeseen closures and schedule changes at their campuses. Learn more here.
 
JEWISH FREE LOAN ASSOCIATION ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FROM THOSE IMPACTED BY CORONAVIRUS
Jewish Free Loan is offering no fee and interest-free loans of up to $10,000, to cover: small business losses; lost wages due to inability to work; child care costs related to school closures; funds lost due to cancellations. Loans can be turned around in a matter of days. To apply, please visit www.jfla.org and complete the pre-loan application.
 
SPEAKING UP ABOUT RACISM AROUND THE CORONAVIRUS

ZEARN MATH PROVIDES K-5 CURRICULUM FOR FREE
Zearn Math will support continued math teaching and learning by providing over 400 hours of on-screen lessons with on-screen teachers and supportive remediation for free. Learn more here.
 
GO NOODLE OFFERS FREE MOVEMENT AND MINDFULNESS VIDEOS
Go Noodle provides free videos and games designed by child development experts to help kids engage their bodies and focus their minds.
 
ONLINE LEARNING RESOURCES FROM WE ARE TEACHERS
